LRE promotes the goals of civic education and enhances relationships between attorneys and students. Programming includes Mock Trial, We the People, LawForKids.org and Youth Court. USC Salkehatchie – Forensic Chemistry Lab
USC Salkehatchie's Forensic Chemistry Lab is a new component of the Criminal Justice curriculum enabling students to gain experience in the areas of DNA analysis, drug analysis and fingerprint analysis and crime scene documentation. Laboratory skills and experience are the foundation for a career in forensic science. Knowledge from these types of labs qualify students for local, state and federal careers, including law enforcement, probation, parole and correction agencies, adult and juvenile social service agencies and law offices and court facilities. They also provide a solid academic foundation for those seeking an advanced degree or wishing to attend law school. Local law enforcement and attorneys have expressed interest in training on the equipment to better understand its capabilities and limitations.
