The South Carolina Bar Foundation Seeks Director of Finance and Administration

The South Carolina Bar Foundation (SCBF) is a non-profit organization whose main purpose is to fund law-related programs throughout the State of South Carolina. SCBF grantees provide civil legal services, law-related education opportunities, and promote the administration of justice to improve and increase access to justice for all South Carolinians.

SCBF is seeking a Director of Finance and Administration to be responsible for the fiscal administration, donor services, and office management of SCBF in accordance with best practices and organization policies, as well as state and federal regulations.

The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of general ledger accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, bank reconciliations and activities through QuickBooks Desktop, and maintenance of donor records and acknowledgements through Network for Good database. The responsibilities also include general administrative support and project administration. The candidate should have excellent writing and oral communication abilities and significant organizational skills.

The position reports to the SCBF Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Financial
· Manage day-to-day financial tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and payroll

· Manage monthly/quarterly/annual grant allocations for 39 grantees

· Generate quarterly and ad hoc financial reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors

· Prepare and file year-end tax information (W-2s, 1099s)

· Work with Executive Director and Finance Committee to prepare annual budget

· With Executive Director, act as liaison to CPA firm to prepare all required financial records and reports for the annual audit and tax returns

Administration
· Manage donor records and acknowledgements through Network for Good donor database

· Participate in and assist with Foundation events and represent Foundation at community functions

· Maintain office systems, supplies, and equipment. Liaise with equipment vendors and IT personnel as needed

· Oversee internal office operations and troubleshoot issues

· Manage all organizational vendor contracts

· Assist with employee onboarding and new hire paperwork

Minimum Qualifications
· BA/BS degree or higher in accounting or a related field or equivalent experience

· 3+ years of accounting experience - preference given to candidate with non-profit accounting experience

· Advanced Microsoft Excel/Office and QuickBooks Desktop skills required; database experience is a plus

· Capability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism

· Excellent teamwork and communication skills

· Proven analytical and organizational skills

Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time position (35 hours/week) located in Columbia, SC. SCBF will pay a competitive salary commensurate with a candidate’s experience and provide excellent benefits, including health, dental, disability, life insurance, and retirement contributions. Salary range of $40,000 - $50,000 depending on experience.
