    Megan Sweeney Seiner serves as the South Carolina Bar Foundation’s Executive Director. Megan works with the Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors to advance the mission of promoting justice by funding legal access and education. The Foundation accomplishes this by providing grants to non-profit organizations throughout the state. These grantees are dedicated to helping individuals in desperate need of legal assistance and protection.

    Prior to joining the Bar Foundation, Megan worked for the University of South Carolina School of Law for nine years. She served the law school in a variety of positions including as the Associate Director Career Services, Director of Student Affairs and as the Director of Externships and Special Academic Programs. While there she had the opportunity to develop strong relationships with students, alumni, attorneys, as well as state and federal judges throughout South Carolina. Megan was an attorney for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and an attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office before relocating to South Carolina in 2007.

    Megan received her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and received her B.A. in Human Resources Management from The Catholic University of America. In the community, Megan has served on a variety of committees including the SC Bar Wellness Committee, the St. Joseph Catholic School Advisory Committee, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and presently serves as the President of the PTO. She was also President-elect of the Catholic University of America Board of Governors. Megan has received the SC Bar Star of the Quarter Award, the ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Program’s Law Student Wellness Award, and the USC Black Law Students Association’s Faculty Award.

    Marisa Adams serves as the Foundation’s Director of Finance and Administration. Marisa is an accomplished operations and financial manager with progressive experience in private and nonprofit sectors in South Carolina, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

    Before coming to the South Carolina Bar Foundation, Marisa worked for the Congaree Land Trust as well as the Municipal Association of SC. She also previously managed foreign aid projects and international student exchange programs in the former Soviet Union and southeastern Europe.

    Marisa holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management and a Bachelor’s in Russian Language & Literature from the University of Maryland.

    Marisa currently serves as a Board member for Sharing God’s Love, a local ministry that provides emergency food, clothing and financial assistance to those in need. She also serves meals to families experiencing homelessness at Family Promise of the Midlands and volunteers with Lighthouse for Life to educate the community and help eradicate human trafficking.

    As the Foundation’s Director of Marketing and Development, Melissa works to create marketing materials that are cohesive and engaging to promote the mission of the Foundation and increase its recognition throughout the state. In addition to being responsible for the social media, newsletters, and marketing pieces, she also coordinates and plans events hosted by the Foundation and works to educate potential donors of the advantages of helping support the Foundation and in turn those who need access to legal help.

    She received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from The University of South Carolina in 2007 with an emphasis on Advertising which she implemented for the past 12 years while working as a free-lance graphic designer and photographer. Melissa is excited to apply the skills she has accumulated in that time for the benefit of the South Carolina Bar Foundation and those it serves.
