2019 Annual Report

2019 ANNUAL REPORT

A Note from the President and Director

Dear Friend of the South Carolina Bar Foundation:

The South Carolina Bar Foundation Board and staff are pleased to share with you our Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2019. We are honored to fund organizations around the state that improve the lives of the poor, the homeless, and those with nowhere else to turn. The Annual Report details the sources of the South Carolina Bar Foundation’s funding, and it also illustrates how our resources are distributed.

We are fortunate to have dedicated donors and IOLTA income, but the needs of human trafficking victims, the homeless, veterans, domestic violence victims, and children far outweigh what we can provide. In 2019, 85 cents of every dollar went to help those in need.

Last year, 4.31% of South Carolina Bar members donated to the Foundation. We are your South Carolina Bar Foundation, and our goal is to increase that number to 100% by December 2020. Make your donation and a difference today. You can donate online at https://scbf.networkforgood.com/.

We appreciate your generosity!

"Upstate Mediation Center’s mediator helped my husband and I come to an agreement that we both feel good about. The mediator helped us understand each other’s different perspectives, and now I am confident we will move forward in a way that will benefit our children. We could not afford a private mediator, and UMC provided an alternative that we could afford. I am thankful for this experience."

"The Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation helped me with my Will. I didn’t have one before and wanted to make sure my children were taken care of and knew what I wanted to be done. The Center was easy to work with but the best thing about it was that it was free. "

"Hopeful Horizons helped me file for an Order of Protection and file for child custody in Family Court. I was able to return home and have my abusive husband vacate my house after five weeks at the shelter, with their legal assistance. The Hopeful Horizons court advocate sat with me through every bond hearing and court hearing in criminal proceedings."

None of this would be possible without our donors. Thank you to those who support us financially! Click the link below to support these good works:
